Joseph’s brothers were jealous;
Their plot was to kill.
Into a pit, they threw him;
Then they sat down, had a mighty fine meal.
Then up out of the pit the brothers pulled Joseph;
They sold their brother as a slave.
His blood-soaked coat of many colors
To their father they gave!
They meant it for evil -
They did all that they could.
But the Lord God, Almighty (to save many lives):
He meant it for good!
The religious leaders were jealous;
Their plot was to kill.
They had Jesus crucified,
After He’d eaten the Passover meal.
His disciples were in trouble
As evil held sway.
Weeping endured for an evening,
But joy came on the morning of the third day!
Sinners meant it for evil -
They did all that they could.
But the Lord God, Almighty (to save many lives):
He meant it for good!
