The poor in spirit: O how Jesus blessed them!
The kingdom of heaven is theirs, He said.
Those who mourn: O how Jesus blessed them!
They shall be comforted, He said.
O how Jesus blessed them: the humble – the meek.
He said they shall inherit the earth.
Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness:
Jesus blessed them and said they shall be filled!
Those who show mercy: O how Jesus blessed them!
Mercy, said He, they shall be shown.
The pure in heart: O how Jesus blessed them!
Christ plainly said they shall see God!
O how Jesus blessed them: those who make peace.
He said they shall be called children of God!
Those persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
He said the kingdom of heaven is theirs!
O the many blessings of Jesus Christ our Lord!
